First, we must all understand our need for a personal Saviour.  The Bible is very clear that we all have a huge problem called sin.  Romans 3:23 says it this way, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  This verse simply means that none of us are perfect - we have all chosen to do wrong things and we must be willing to admit that.  The problem is this:  sin has a high price tag.  Romans 6:23a says, "For the wages of sin is death...."  In other words, the price for sin is eternal death apart from God in a place called Hell.  Because of our sin, none of us can make it into Heaven alone.

Here's the good news - God sent help!  The rest of Romans 6:23 says, "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Again, in Romans 5:8, God says, "But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."

What we can't do through our own efforts, God the Son, Jesus Christ, did by coming to earth to die on the cross for us.  He took the punishment for our sins and became the way to heaven, bridging the gap between God the Father and us that had been created by sin.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

We must believe that Jesus Christ wants to be our Saviour!  Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then voluntarily died on a cross because He loves us.  In His death, He literally paid for all of our sins.  The Bible promises in Romans 10:13 that all those who call on His name shall be saved.  We are invited to escape the penalty for our sins, begin a personal relationship with God, and live with Him forever in heaven.  We have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Just like any relationship, it's about communication!  Simply, He talks to us through His word, and we talk to Him through prayer.
